  7. AmandaLily says:

were those cigarettes falling out of the sky at the end?? if so, i need that drink ;p

  8. John says:

Mixing the Japanese with the Austrians is toxic. This brought awkward to a new level.

  9. Akkhima says:

    @AmandaLily
That’s very likely. In Japan you can’t gamble for money legally, but you can gamble for goods and prizes.

  10. Misa says:

He made a lot of scary ads in Japan in the 90′s; this one is for Alinamin V, an OTC vitamin B health supplement. See more American celebs embarrassing themselves at Japander.com.

  11. Dances With Dingos says:

Yep…that’s our governor. Remind me again why I should be proud of democracy?

  12. nops says:

The Governator is selling drugs on TV

  13. Ben says:

I’m not familiar with the type of thing I am seeing.

  14. simi says:

    @nops: epic win, dude :D

  15. randomypurple says:

the add is for a vitamin supplement and basically its hes loseing at gambleing but when he takes it he wins everything^^…um yea

  16. Jake says:

It looks like half the cast of Shaolin Soccer. Was that Ng Man Tat and the guy who plays Iron Shirt?

  17. chocomuffin says:

Someone has some explanation to do.

  18. Fattyjnl says:

    Kinda evil? I say!

  19. Kitty says:

Holy crap, I think you might be right Jake lol. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the movie though.

  20. rai says:

I don’t know what the hell that was but it was hilarious.

  21. leila says:

I was so sure that he was selling a buoy until you guys explained it.

  22. Gab says:

    Ichiban. Lipstick for men.

  23. hi kitty i love you ive that uoyer pic i laike to slieb weth uoy one day only thankss kitty my love

  24. nimrod23 says:

In Japan, they mix business and pleasure. So Arnold’s company took the guy they want to make a deal with to play Mahjong. What should have happened is Arnold and his company mates should have let the guy they want to make a deal with win, to make them feel good about themself, let him have a good time, etc… What did happen was Arnold won, hence the colleague grabbing Arnold, “what have you done??” The scene where Arnold pulls out the drink, you can hear in the background the guy saying he doesn’t want to make a deal.
Arnold is then showering him with tokens that signifies win. Everyone is happy.

What this has to do with the energy drink, i have no idea.

  25. muush says:

    wow… seriously?

  26. Rogue says:

Well, its certainly no worse than a Mentos commercial.

  27. poleman493 says:

    @nimrod23
I guess the idea is that the energy drink allows everyone to stay awake and continue to play long enough for that businessman to win eventually.

  28. cTo says:

Definitely gives me flashbacks to some of the creepier scenes in Total Recall. Looks like it was made about the same too, giving the governators age.

  29. Petrander says:

    @nimrod23

Thanks, Nimrod, just knowing a little bit of Japanese society myself, that actually makes a whole lot sense. (Not being sarcastic BTW)

  30. 600lbsofcrab says:

nimrod23 has got it exactly right! The thing is, as strange as this commercial is, it’s not really unique in Japan. Actually most commercials are kind of strange and involve giant non-sequiters. I actually really miss Japanese TV…

  31. ahnuc says:

You will often find A-list celebrities doing commercials in foreign countries (esp. Japan) to (ahem) supplement their income. Doing so in North America would tarnish their image hurting their Hollywood income potential and box-office drawing power.

  32. random deirium says:

Half expected Ahnold to jump up and yell ‘Girugamesh!’

  33. Murrmle says:

The only thing I know about that is that “yosh”, when he pulled out the whatever it is generally translates to “alright!”

… take it from someone who watches a lot of anime.

  34. Grif says:

American celebrities do weird ads in Japan all the time. They try to keep them from coming over to the US, but the internet bridges the gap.

  35. Matt says:

Wow! what an idea ! What a concept ! Beautiful .. Amazing

  36. cizzer says:

This is the best thing I have ever seen.

  37. Potatogil says:

    Gab :
    Ichiban. Lipstick for men.

    Friends? Come on, FRIENDS?! WTF

  38. Laudanum says:

I remember seeing this ad when I was living in Japan. It’s from as long ago as 1991.

I also remember Charlie Sheen advertising awfully named ‘Madras Modello’ shoes from around the same time.

Yes as others said it’s a vitamin drink.

    Daijouboi!

  39. Mike L says:

I think that’s Arnold’s pride in that bottle.

  40. pixie says:

I really have no idea what I’m supposed to buy after seeing this.
    Arnold did commercials for Japan?
I wonder if he has an Austrian accent in Japanese, too?

  41. Toby says:

It’s Conrad Poos from Monty Python!
