Sure it’s Kyoto and not Tokyo? I don’t remember seeing any moats or big walls in or around the Kyoto palace.

That was exactly what I thought! There’s something very feng-shui about this photo. And his baldness somehow exentuates his nakedness, and the ultimate wtf-itude of the whole thing. His stance also reminds me of a ballerina! So graceful, clenched butt cheeks and all.

Its not a palace! The Japanese didn’t build huge stone walls around palaces…. Its a castle. If I had to guess it is, in fact Edo-jo(castle). One caveat here is that the current Imperial palace is on the grounds of the former Edo-jo. ALSO, this doesn’t look like any part of Nijo-jo (the only candidate in Kyoto) that am familiar with, however, I’m not as familiar with it as I am other castles. However, either way, its a castle or a castle converted to a palace, not a palace proper.. The didn’t build moats or massive walls around their palaces.

I’ve had a few early mornings after drinking too much that ended up in similar ways.
After all these years, the little Dutch boy is still plugging holes in dykes.
This happened on October 8th, 2008 in Tokyo. A guy jumped into the moat around the imperial palace in Tokyo. Besides swimming he also tried to climb the wall, as you can see on the photo. It took police quite a while to get him out of the water and capture him. If you google “naked man Tokyo palace” you will find a lot of newspaper articles about this event.

I dont think it was a funyn story. I think he was having a midlife crisis or something, and going a bit loopy and jumped into the lake. the guards tried to get him because he was naked, and it was a sacred place or somehting so they wanted to cover him up he swam to the other side and tried to climb up the wall. :/
