haha
As someone who played defense (poorly) for three years, I wouldn’t mind an interruption to my game with a bit of pointy, ball poppy, bloody goodness =)
Those are definitely costumes of Dilandeau and his assistant guy (always forget his name, but there’s more then one guy that dresses up in the blue like that) from Escaflowne. What they’re doing at a soccer game still confuses me though.
@the guy in the pic
There are more than one guys in the pic. Maybe you’re the other one, but again you can’t see his face so we’ll never know. Also I’m not arguing.
I love it when I see something on WTF pictures and I not only know what it is but shrug it off as totally normal to me.
I cosplayed Dilandau once, but my outfit wasn’t as good as that.
I totally want to know what’s up with Dilandau and Chesta’s creepy stares at the soccer practice though. Recruiting nubile young new Dragonslayers perhaps? Hmmmm…
It’s an intentionally humorous photo taken near end of a costume photoshoot in 2003. The “guy” in blue (playing the character of Chesta, from the anime “Escaflowne”) was a 12-year-old girl. ;] The “commanding officer guy” (the character Dilandau) is actually being played by her mother. XD
The katana are prop weapons made from foamcore, paperclay and foil tape. (Real katana are not legal to carry unsheathed – much less being brandished – in public areas.)
There was no Photoshop involved; the photoshoot was being conducted in a large public park. The nearby soccer practice seemed like a perfect setup for a joke photo. ^^
Shameless plug: please go vote in the caption contest! (Go “Manchester United”! XD)
Red: On three, we attack the evil sphere of power. Blue: Um, wait, did you say three. Red: Yes, on three we attack …… oh forget it, the sphere of power has been captured by the net of destiny.
@Navigator
Don’t worry you’re not the only one. I haven’t watched that show in yonks, still recognized them. Dilandeau more than the other one, something about the hair ticked me off, like the clothes weren’t obvious enough.
first?
I SCREWD UP YOUR CHANCES OF BEING FIRST DOUCHEBAGS!!!
anyways this should be a wtf caption contest, i mean theres even extra space for the caption.
haha

damnn elves ruining soccer
Obnoxious soccer moms beware!
lame
They have . . . Samurai . . . swords.
I’m not sure, but I think the guy in blue is me.
Buffy and Muffy finally lose it.
@Bob
They might have them, but I bet they know they’re called ‘Katana’, Bob.
uh.. how are you not sure
Looks like a couple of bored Escaflowne cosplayers?
zomfg!! the one on the right definently does!! internetz to you, nostalgia is wonderful
Um… that would be Dilandau and Gatty from a 90′s anime called Escaflowne. Why they are invading the soccer practice is the real question…
I believe you are absolutely correct. I’m glad someone else thought the same thing when they first saw it.
Yeah, my thought exactly. Maybe they just got lost?
Dilandau <3
Prince Eisenherz und Merkel crusade against soccer.
Nice wigs.
Ninjas – they are everywhere – real ultimate power!
They look like Fire Emblem characters too.
& I thought knee-capping someone in figure skating was harsh, but this, this takes it to a whole new level of “get rid of the compition”.
This is definitely a screenshot from a movie.
Isn’t that from the movie “Role Models”?
Its World of Warcraft
The real question is: why are they LARPing crap from the ’90s?
It was a good show :$
PHOTOSHOPPED! Just look at the seam between the 2 pictures, in the middle you can see it goes from light green and focused to dark green and blurry.
@Anna Rexia
Because those soccer guys made fun of them for being 90s kids.
It’s Dante and Virgil from Devil May Cry 3… only less cool.

Oops, didn’t see my earlier comment. I thought it had been eaten. My bad! ^^;
@Wilson
Duh! Cause I can’t see his face.
@R Car
Wouldn’t you know if you were near a soccer field dressed as a samurai? I mean what are the odds of this photo occuring?
@R Car
actually, (as my nickname says)I’m the guy in the pic, so your arguments are not valid anymore.
“Damn you Gerard… I *told* you these disguises were useless!!”
@drahoop
They aren’t dressed like Samurai.

@Anna Rexia
Because it’s bloody sweet crap.
(I love those cosplayers!)
@HAHA first fail, First douchebag win
escaflowne! dilandau!
Hey, we know those people!
I love it when I see something on WTF pictures and I not only know what it is but shrug it off as totally normal to me.

@PhotoshopClaims!
you do realise that it could also be a large cloud. they tend to make dark ominous shadows.
@Sonia
I’m glad I’m not the only one who immediately recognized what they were.

I think you’re right. It’s Chesta, not Gatty.
I didn’t think anyone remembered Escaflowne! Go Chesta and Dilandau! Kill those soccer-playing bastards >.>
oh wow this is in palo alto, in mitchelle park.
Even samauri elves hate soccer.
Red: On three, we attack the evil sphere of power. Blue: Um, wait, did you say three. Red: Yes, on three we attack …… oh forget it, the sphere of power has been captured by the net of destiny.
I don’t think we are a high enough level to join this raid.
Whose the losers now!
Correction: Who’s the losers now?!!

The universe is telling me to watch Escaflowne again.
