Uh… really? I mean, with the accurate reflections off the wet pavement and all? And the fact that it’s a rainy day so there isn’t really a direction for the diffuse “lighting” to come from anyhow?
Anyways. This looks like London or some other inner part of a large British city – double “red route” lines and other road markings, style of bus stop and ticket machine, fashionable types with brollies and tourists in ponchos next to the everyday folk – in which case someone is being extra awesome (as I suspect this kind of thing happens on pretty much a daily basis in japan…)

Actually, the reflection is one of the give-aways. Look at the post between “us” and him, the reflection isn’t there around the the sides of the post, and neither is he. Also his reflection is at a slightly different angle than everyone else’s. Other than that, the lighting is wrong, the edges of Tortoro the umbrella and the guy’s side are all blurred

I was going to counter with the observation that the whole thing’s a bit over-sharpened and over compressed, and all the posts have that appearance…
but the more I look at it, the more it seems you’re right. Particularly with the brolly, and the back of O-Totoro’s head

Ok, this is an amusing picture, and props for the Miyazaki references, but I’m kinda tired of pictures of just people wearing costumes and it being called WTF. A true WTF is like the horrible disfigured pig a while back. I have no idea how that happened or what is going on, and I’m not sure I wanna know. With this picture and others like it, I know exactly what’s going on: someone’s wearing a strange costume in public.
Maybe it’s a WTF because it was unseasonable rainy that day?
I totally agree. I prefer the WTFs where you aren’t even sure what to think, rather then the ones that are mundane and explicable, if mildly strange, events.

Good try, nice reflections, but the earlier comment about ‘lighting’ is accurate — not directional lighting, but the overall tone of light on him versus everything around him. Not to mention the blurry edges.
I have no problem with photoshop, and I think this is a good image.
However, I know what the F it is, so to me, it doesnt fit as well on this page as other images (see man bear pig as mentioned above)
