This is actually pretty funny looking! We do a fund raiser here called the Running of the Ducks, you donate $5 for a rubber duck and the ones to make to the finish line first win a variety of prizes! I’m assuming this is from an event of the same kind! Happy Friday!

Looks like the setup for the new O2 UK advert.

  3. Baliseth says:

There has got to be at least a slightly amusing story behind this….

  4. ponard says:

  5. Snookie_Townshend says:

Are they releasing them or containing a spill? Because if it’s the latter, we need to send them to the Gulf. They seem to know what they’re doing.

I think there are too much ducks

  7. androshalforc says:

well if i remember correctly a long time ago say 1995 or so a load of pool/bath float toys went overboard from a cargo carrier scientists decided to leave the floaties as a study on how the ocean currents work
maybe these duckies are part of that

Why aren’t these things counted as pollutants?

We have the ‘Great Rotary Duck Race’ here in oregon, they release tons of rubber duckies, just like these, in the river, people by tickets for a duck and win prizes. It all raise money for children’s hospitals.
It’s fun to watch the river full of these guys.

  10. Robin says:

Barzuk, at the end of the race they collect all the duckies, so they are not left to pollute the river.

  11. klara says:

  13. momto6 says:

“10 January 1992, somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean… Nearly 29,000 First Years bath toys, including bright yellow rubber ducks, are spilled from a container cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean”

  14. fair game says:

You know that game at fairs where there are rubber duckies floating in a kiddie pool, you select one, and whatever number is on the bottom of the ducky determines whether you get a prize, and if so, what sort? Well, this is the expert version for the hard-core players.

  15. duckyluvr says:

Oh, no. stupid B.P.! first, they pollute our waters with OIL! then , they have the nerve to start a ducky spill!

We also have a rubber duck race in Knoxville, TN. They pour thousands and thousands of these things into the TN river.

  20. WSL says:

Actually it could be the annual Kiwanis Duck Race For Tiny Hearts for CHEO. I didn`t realize this was a common fundraiser.

Looks like the rubber ducks they use for Cincinnati’s Rubber Duck Regatta. Sunglasses and all.

  22. Beth says:

Those ducks look EXACTLY like the ducks they use in “Duck Day on the Trinity”. It’s a Girl Scout fundraiser in Arlington, Texas.

  23. Guy me says:

Actually, wasn’t there a cargo ship like 15 years ago that had a shipment of rubber ducks that fell overboard?

Right now, there are 666 likes for this pic, is that a bad sign?

  26. Iceblossom says:

I think they’re taking them out. Have you noticed that they have a net? If they were putting them in, they’d be throwing them in or pouring buckets of them in.

  27. Jocelynne says:

These were actually sent out to track the currents, for the oil spill I believe. Cute idea. :)

  28. wow says:

This is from the Rotary club Ducky 500 race held every Canada Day in the Comox Valley, BC Canada. I recognize the logo on the guy’s shirt, it hasn’t changed in about 10 years. Comox Valley represent! \o/
