This is actually pretty funny looking! We do a fund raiser here called the Running of the Ducks, you donate $5 for a rubber duck and the ones to make to the finish line first win a variety of prizes! I’m assuming this is from an event of the same kind! Happy Friday!
it could be from the kenducky derby, you buy rubber ducks for like 2 dollars and the proceeds go to charity, they float thousands of rubber ducks down the ohio river
Yea for Eugene, was going to comment about this too, glad I’m not the only one. I buy tickets for this every year, haven’t won yet though. I really wanted the PT Cruiser from last year, or was that the year before?
well if i remember correctly a long time ago say 1995 or so a load of pool/bath float toys went overboard from a cargo carrier scientists decided to leave the floaties as a study on how the ocean currents work
maybe these duckies are part of that
We have the ‘Great Rotary Duck Race’ here in oregon, they release tons of rubber duckies, just like these, in the river, people by tickets for a duck and win prizes. It all raise money for children’s hospitals.
It’s fun to watch the river full of these guys.
“10 January 1992, somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean… Nearly 29,000 First Years bath toys, including bright yellow rubber ducks, are spilled from a container cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean”
You know that game at fairs where there are rubber duckies floating in a kiddie pool, you select one, and whatever number is on the bottom of the ducky determines whether you get a prize, and if so, what sort? Well, this is the expert version for the hard-core players.
I think they’re taking them out. Have you noticed that they have a net? If they were putting them in, they’d be throwing them in or pouring buckets of them in.
This is from the Rotary club Ducky 500 race held every Canada Day in the Comox Valley, BC Canada. I recognize the logo on the guy’s shirt, it hasn’t changed in about 10 years. Comox Valley represent! \o/

Actually, that sounds like an event from a town in Alaska where my brother stayed a couple of years ago O.o
Fairbanks is the town, and river is The Chena…
Last I saw it tho, they had like a floaty boom across the river to funnel all them duckies to the boat… This looks a bit less organized, lol
And Spanish Fork, Utah
I forgot; and Nome, Alaska
Reno also does a rubber duck race.
and Boulder, CO.
And Chicago.
Brisbane (Qld, Australia) too!
*jealous* I love Queensland! Oh well, Sydney is awesome!!!
I think this might possibly be the NASA thing. Maybe. Just a suggestion.
And Nashville
And Kansas City.
And Port Angeles Washington.

And in Brisbane, Australia
And Eugene, Oregon! Home of the Ducks
It’s called the Rotary Duck Race here… I’ve volunteered to be one of the people in the boats collecting all the little rubber ducks… it’s hilarious.
Eugene, REPRESENT!!!
Yea for Eugene, was going to comment about this too, glad I’m not the only one. I buy tickets for this every year, haven’t won yet though. I really wanted the PT Cruiser from last year, or was that the year before?
They do this as a fundraiser in Long Beach California.
That have a similar event in Bend Oregon. I’ve boughten ducks two years, but never got to actually watch them race…
We have the Ducky Derby every 4th of July in Vallejo, CA. It’s pretty much the same deal; 5 bucks for a duck and there are prizes to be won.
Same here, The Great Rubber Ducky Race.
They have the great British Duck Race in London.
And New Braunfels Tx!
Looks like the setup for the new O2 UK advert.
I was thinking the very same thing!
Already our minds our fusing together to become one…
Make it three O_o
Three? I thought we were talking about O2?
There has got to be at least a slightly amusing story behind this….
you make bath time lotsa fun
Are they releasing them or containing a spill? Because if it’s the latter, we need to send them to the Gulf. They seem to know what they’re doing.
I think there are too much ducks
well if i remember correctly a long time ago say 1995 or so a load of pool/bath float toys went overboard from a cargo carrier scientists decided to leave the floaties as a study on how the ocean currents work

1992, iirc. And they’d be bone white by now (unless this is an old picture)
Why aren’t these things counted as pollutants?

Barzuk, at the end of the race they collect all the duckies, so they are not left to pollute the river.
$5 for 10 ducks!! everybody wins!
Thats Ducky Derby material from where I am. same thing as what Dada said. only we have a different name for it.

This comment made my night.
Oh, no. stupid B.P.! first, they pollute our waters with OIL! then , they have the nerve to start a ducky spill!
Maybe it’s o2 cleaning up after their shoot?
I think this is for the O2 advert
We’ve got several towns in Michigan that do Rubber Duck Races.
We also have a rubber duck race in Knoxville, TN. They pour thousands and thousands of these things into the TN river.
Actually it could be the annual Kiwanis Duck Race For Tiny Hearts for CHEO. I didn`t realize this was a common fundraiser.
Looks like the rubber ducks they use for Cincinnati’s Rubber Duck Regatta. Sunglasses and all.
Those ducks look EXACTLY like the ducks they use in “Duck Day on the Trinity”. It’s a Girl Scout fundraiser in Arlington, Texas.
Actually, wasn’t there a cargo ship like 15 years ago that had a shipment of rubber ducks that fell overboard?
I think they need a bigger boat…
Right now, there are 666 likes for this pic, is that a bad sign?
I think they’re taking them out. Have you noticed that they have a net? If they were putting them in, they’d be throwing them in or pouring buckets of them in.
These were actually sent out to track the currents, for the oil spill I believe. Cute idea.

That is THE biggest “Catch The Duck” amusement park game I’ve ever seen.
okay, what exactly is going on here? are ruber ducks suddenly gushing into the gulf as well as oil??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
i’ll take 3 boat loads.
Now the hard part: teaching them to eat oil…
…and that’s where they get rubber duckies.
