I wouldn’t go anywhere nearly as close to a hippo, they can bite a human clean in half and indeed kill more humans in Africa than all other creatures put together. I’ve seen footage of a croc walking straight into the middle of a pride of feeding lions and make off with their kill. I also saw footage of a hippo taking a zebra off a 8m+ croc. Hippos are not purely vegetarian and have a very, very short fuse.
