Still spectacular after all these years: the stage set for Verdi’s “A Masked Ball”, 1998, on the Bregenz Floating Stage. Proving once again that opera can be so ultra radically COOL
That is not the same stage, Bregenz is know for their opera stages and famous performances. The one from James Bond has better chairs and is definitely inside.
I have to admit this is freaking awesome! But some things still bug me. Like why is there a giant skeleton coming out of the water? And why is he reading an even bigger book thats on the water? Can someone explain this to me?
Coming from a theater and sound background this must be a nightmare to reinforce so the orchestra and singers are heard. The natural sound must get lost instead of focused like in an opera hall.

This is so amazing!
Amen
Ha! I knew it was Bregenz, just couldn’t place the production…one of the few years I missed in the 90s!
I found myself lost and adrift in the watered down plot. Let’s just say “aw, the h3ll with it. Die and close the book on it.”
You may also know this stage from “James Bond – Quantum of Solace” where you can see that stage for the play “Tosca”.

JESUS F*CKING CHRIST ON A BICICLE!!! If I ever see that in real life I swear I drop dead right there!
Keep away from Bregenz, Austria, then, because this is not a shoop, it’s an opera company that does stuff like this every year
That is cool as all hell. I’d gladly sit through operas that looked like that!
I like operas alright, but not this morbid LOL. Kinda reminds me the ending of Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life. Only with an oversized Mr. Reaper.
…me too man!! that’s so awsome!
I thought it was a live action Metalocalypse!
Jesus walked on water supposedly. Evidently Death like to read in the tub.
I think this made it to Guiness, or Ripley’s… Or both.
Guiness World Record.
This is the fcuking coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my life!

if you like this one, have a look at what the stage looked like for the next production… La Boheme:

french bistro table!
THAT is completely, cool, too. Now I’ve GOTTA go to Bregenz !!! YOW!

The water wouldn’t help carry the sound, or anything?
*isn’t doubting you, as Boba Fett doesn’t have a theater background*
He is just about to dry some humans for his collection.
This is the most amazing thing…I would have loved to have seen this in person.
so awesome.
Haha i saw this in real, i life next to bregenz ^^
