  1. Ren says:

A radioactive mutant eel? I wonder if it tastes good.

  2. Gigglemonkey says:

Can anyone say if this is real? That’s a scary big fish to be catching that close to shore…

  3. meetoo says:

Yup – certain eels can get that big. I doubt it was caught close to shore – this is probably where they pulled it off the boat. We used to catch stuff off Hawaii like that, although this is probably deeper in the Pacific like Truk or Tonga.

  4. fabian egopants says:

some of those fingers look awfully identical to others of those fingers. that is, do all photoshoppings qualify for pictureisunrelated status, or just those involving guys where tiaras?

  5. Sean says:

    It’s an Oarfish.

  6. Kinseth says:

    Oh my god an oarfish!

    So beautiful…

  7. Missy says:

I thought that was a topless chick on the left at first, haha.
    Neat fish

  8. Pagina says:

They probably found it washed up on shore, dead. Oarfishes tend to end up like that.

  9. Ash Ketchum says:

    All right! I caught… a Dratini!

  10. Terminal says:

Such a shame, Oarfish are awesome.

  11. failhuntermk2 says:

its a real thing, but the picture is fake, look at the right bottom in the water, the reflex only show the guy with “the hands holding something invisible”.

  12. Nyckname says:

    Holy carp!!!

  13. Dr. Psycho says:

I like this, “Oarfish are the source of many sea serpent reports”.

Gee, maybe because it’s a Goddamned sea serpent??

  14. Sharon says:

Looks like a king of herrings (a kind of oarfish): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_of_herrings

  15. MyTuber says:

More of the guys and their fish:

  16. AJ says:

Oarfish grow even bigger than that. I’m suprised someone caught one close to shore since they live in the abyss.

    • Stylops says:

Actually, they do sometimes come to the surface at night. The weird part is that they clearly caught it during the day.

  17. JCoffey says:

KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, and then serve with melted butter and your precious TARTAR sauce.

  18. Long before dawn says:

    Too small. Throw it back.

  19. kaffikopp says:

This is a fish called King of Herrings, and it is extremely rare.

  20. Churchilla says:

‘when an eel hits your eye like a big pizza pie, it’s a Moray’

  21. Henrique says:

  22. lina inverse says:

    how is this unrelated?

  23. Redazrael says:

AUGH OH GOD THROW IT BACK THROW IT BACK.

Non-mammalian sea creatures freak me the hell out. D: If I were in the water and one of those things got close to me — or, oh fuck, touched me — I’d probably need honest-to-god therapy for PTSD afterwards.

    ohgodohgodohgodthatthingishideous

It’s not their fault they terrify me. But still. D:

  24. tomtastic says:

    a cold?

  25. MeIshAwsome says:

Its an oarfish! NOT a eel! they are a deep sea fish that occasionaly get washed up on shore, like what probably happened to this one. Also thay are quite rare.
