Planes got bigger as time went on. still are. compare a WWI F1 Camel, to a WWII F4U corsair, to a cold-war F5 tiger, to a modern F-15 Eagle or F-22 Raptor
The comparison of the F-5 to a F-15 or F-22 isn’t really valid, as they were designed for very different mission requirements. A more valid comparison would be to the F-16, which is actually about the same size as the F-5.

LOL That’s in Moldova, when they moved the army museum from an open space where they had all those soviet tanks and aircrafts and other interesting stuff to that building behind the fence. Obviously, they had much less room in the yard, so they even had to cut the airplane’s wings in order to get it inside. That pic was taken before the glorious action:)
