I don’t think this is WTF?! It’s kinda cool and that was just oldschool skating…
Except that this is mid ’60s style skateboarding in 1980. At this point, banana boards were toys and skaters were riding pools and bowls. Half pipes and skateparks were everywhere.
Not in the Ukraine.
I am Ukrainian. And this is Odessa, I live there. I can see that the cars in the streets outdated and not so numerous like nowadays. Here you can see the centre of the city clear from the cars, and nowadays you cannot even park sometimes. And the sports wear look like Soviet style, true.
And that is how the Western culture was adapted by progressive Soviet youth. No junk food, but sports and music like Genesis, Pink Floyd, Scorpions listened by my parents.

Ukraine in 1980? Or in the1980′s? Following is from http://skateboarding.transworld.net/1000010683/news/rolling-into-the-russian-market/: “In the early 1980s, the first Western skateboards infiltrated Soviet Russia under the Iron Curtain.” So making cool videos of it so early as in 1980 would be a little strange, wouldn’t it?!
