I played this game… I tried to go after the doctor pigeon then my best pigeon friend found my severed head in a box the next day… Actually… I got murdered twice… but I did get the library pigeon and the teacher pigeon.

Oh gosh- my roomie told me about this a few months ago and I didn’t believe her at first. Then she showed me and I was like “what…?” Then I loled.

This is a real thing. I’d read about it once and could not stop laughing! I’m pretty sure the makers were making fun of their own genre (a common theme in japan these days…they know they’re weird), but they wrote it in such a way that at some point the player gets used to the parody and genuinely enjoys the storyline.
That is a chukar not a pigeon second to the top, they are game birds like pheasants.

The gag is that ‘heartful’ is an expression in Japanese, a sort of mishmash word that means more or less what it sounds like. Except that ‘heartful’ would sound like ‘haatofuru’ in Japanese pronunciation, which is just a beat away from ‘hatofuru’ which would be ‘Pidgeon-full’ .
